Michele Shak

Creative Director + Co Founder

Born and raised in Queens, NY, Michele is a biologist, art coordinator and co-founder of Unfamous NY. With over five years of curatorial and administrative experience in the multidisciplinary arts, Michele has produced extensive indoor and outdoor exhibitions specializing in street art and graffiti.

Developing Unfamous NY as a platform for growth, she works alongside professional and emerging artists to create engaging programming within her community.

 

In addition to her duties at Unfamous NY, she oversees the Queens College Art Center, Queens College Student Art Festival and is the first undergraduate student on the Arts Advisory Board through her position at Kupferberg Center for the Arts. With a B.S. in Biology and minor in Studio Art, Michele plans to focus on the the two disciplines held near and dear to her heart.

 

On her spare time, Michele explores her surroundings through traveling, hiking and biking as well as printing her own black and white film lifestyle photography. She continues to curate community events with Unfamous NY and is focusing on public arts through permanent murals and temporary mini mural installations. As a connoisseur of all things craft, Michele builds her reputation on celebrating and preserving the diverse cultures and local creatives birthed from New York City.
