Michele Shak

Creative Director + Co Founder

Born and raised in Queens, NY, Michele is a biologist, art coordinator and co-founder of Unfamous NY. With over five years of curatorial and administrative experience in the multidisciplinary arts, Michele has produced extensive successful indoor and outdoor exhibitions specializing in street art and graffiti.

Developed as a platform for growth, she works alongside professional and emerging artists to create engaging programming within her community.

Currently she holds a B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Oral Biology and Forensic Science, and a minor in Studio Art - with hopes of obtaining a career in Forensic Odontology. Aside from her studies and Unfamous NY, she works at  Kupferberg Center for the Arts, the largest indoor cultural complex in Queens. She manages the Queens College Art Center, Queens College Student Art Festival and is the first undergraduate student on the Arts Advisory Board.

On her spare time, Michele explores her surroundings through traveling, hiking and biking as well as printing her own black and white film lifestyle photography. She continues to curate community events with Unfamous NY and is focusing on public arts through permanent murals and temporary mini mural installations. As a connoisseur of all things craft, Michele builds her reputation on celebrating and preserving the diverse cultures and local creatives birthed from New York City.
